Before setting up Learn to Bloom in 2021, I spent 14 years working as a specialist teacher for a Local Education Authority teaching and advisory service, supporting cognition and learning in children with special educational needs within mainstream schools. During this time, I worked with children who had a wide range of special needs and developed close links with their parents/carers as well as the school settings.
I have extensive experience of supporting senior leaders, SENCOs, classroom teachers and teaching assistants in mainstream settings to ensure effective provision for pupils with special educational needs. Throughout my career, I have developed my breadth of knowledge and range of expertise in special educational needs through extensive training and postgraduate study.

Just as a plant flourishes under the right conditions, a child can bloom when their skills and confidence are nurtured. I am passionate about giving every child the opportunity to maximise their potential. Every child is unique and therefore I firmly believe that optimum learning takes place when teaching approaches are adapted to each individual. This is perhaps even more pertinent for children who have special educational needs, as they require a range of bespoke methods which take into account their strengths, difficulties and important contextual information regarding their additional needs. I believe that the key to unlocking potential is to work collaboratively with staff, families and the children themselves in order to provide a personalised learning approach that allows them to thrive.
